Inspiriational Story

I am sure many of you have heard about or have read the blog NieNie Dialogues. Well, she was recently on the Today show with Matt Lauer. She has such an inspiring story and does such a wonderful job sharing it. Take a look, hope you are inspired as well.

One great night

That's right folks, last night was everything I hoped it would be! The Forgotten Carols truly delivered and I swear I had chills on at least three separate occasions. At the end of the show the creator, Michael McLean, said this was his 19th season! Can you believe it has been around that long? As soon as he announced that, my next thought was, "OH NO! I hope it doesn't end soon!" This is my very favorite Christmas tradition, one I have started on my own and I hope to carry it on for many years to come. I suppose that is just how life is, things change, but at least I will always have the book to enjoy the story from and the CD to ignite the Christmas spirit in me every year!

Happy first day of December!

I am so excited

While you have been out and about in town have you noticed that the decor went from the haunted Halloween to cheery Christmas? My friends, what happened to Thanksgiving? It's in there too. I think I understand where the retail people may be coming from. Halloween has loads of fun decorations and so does Christmas, but Thanksgiving, well its just a bunch of food and leaves. However, if you happen to be like me and live in the arctic (Rexburg is close enough, trust me!) then you will have a white fluffy-freezing Thanksgiving that resembles a white Christmas. So If Mother Nature is going to forgo the Thanksgiving decor, than so am I.

Which brings be to the reason why I am so excited. Over the years I have made it a tradition to attend Michael McLean's The Forgotten Carols, I just can't get enough! It's the perfect start to the Christmas Season. I swear every time I hear the guest choir sing Handel's Hallelujah Chorus I get chills all over and I am moved to tears. November 30 is the blessed day this year. My roommate and I will be making the trek to Idaho Falls to attend my favorite Christmas tradition. Oh, I just can't wait!

Better Late Than Never

My Apologies my bloggy readers, I have not be a gracious host for quite some time. I wish I could promise to post more frequently, but finals are quickly approaching (one month!) so for the time being my loyalties lie with the textbooks. But come December I will have much to blog about.

So here is a little bit from Halloween, I couldn't leave you without some pictures... The main level of 131 (my house) went all out for what we called "The Eve Before The Hallow Party" and it was a smashing hit! I made the desserts with the aid of my roommates and we received raved reviews from the guest (it's not too hard to please starving college students).

the graveyard cake
mini pumpkin pies
spooky treats
Bubbles The Clown
upon his arrival he appeared on our darkened porch with his face in our front window. Yes, a few people screamed and you better believe I was one of them.
It was a great party with lots of fun costumes, good music to bring us back to our fun junior high days and did I mention the layers of snow on the ground... only in Rexburg! I just can't imagine leaving this blog alone until DECEMBER, so stay tuned for a mini Thanksgiving post. How ungrateful would I be to not post on Thanksgiving?

I hope you know

I have enjoyed watching the Mormon Message clips others have posted and decided to go look for one I could share. All of these short clips are so well done, but I particularly like this one, "Hope Ya Know, We Had a Hard Time." Perhaps this title caught my attention with last week being midterms, but I am sure it is because I have been thinking a lot about my plans for the coming holiday season and ways to share my joy with those I will have the opportunity to come in contact with. I hope this brings a little light to your day and perhaps inspires you to share the love.
