The most wonderful time of the year!

Christmas is the most magical time of the year. An entire month dedicated to carols of our King, tasty treats, gatherings of both family and friends, and the aroma of pine, peppermint and cinnamon swirling around the air, it is simply wonderful! I immediately feel like breaking out in my own rendition of Handel's Messiah (no worries, I'll leave it to the professionals). It is spectacular that even in the bitter cold of Rexburg I seem to find the overwhelming warmth Christlike love in the air. I could not be more thrilled that the Holiday season has finally arrived! I love seeing houses trimmed in sparkling lights and a beautifully decorated tree in the front window. The entire town seems to be decorated to the nine's and the excitement is easily felt from every cheery face you pace. As of today I am officially done with my Christmas shopping, just a few odds and ends to tie up and a little wrapping and I am all set!

I wanted you utilize my blog and share my gratitude for life to all of those dedicated bloggers out there. I am so blessed to live and reap the benefits of being an American. I am greatful for this free country, to all who fight on behalf of this great nation and for all who step up and run for public office, I admire and am truly grateful for all that you do. I am greatful for life experiences, those unexpected events that make life interesting. I am greatful for my health and the health of my family. One of the most dear blessings I cherish is the opportunity to study, read and explore new ideas and theories in college, the opportunity is remarkable and filled with memories that will last a life time. I hope that everyone will take the time tomorrow to reflect upon the things that really matter.

In Remembrance

Happy Veterans Day to all who have fought for the safety of our great nation. I am so thankful to all who have spent time away from their families and made personal sacrifices to keep our country safe and free. It is only appropriate that we honor you on this great day and for all those who are currently fighting, I pray for your safe return home to your families and loved one. A simple thank you seems insignificant in retrospect to all you do and all you have done, but from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU a thousand times!

Fast Grad

It is official, I am registered for classes in winter! I am so excited, they should be very challenging and interesting. I will be taking foreign government, Old Testament, philosophy, media law, visual media and writing for the school newspaper. It will most likely be heavy reading next semester, but I can't help but be excited for these classes. The winter semester will be my last semester as a junior and I find myself wanting to take advantage of all of the classes the school has to offer, (hense the philosophy). I am feeling a little apprehensive about spending the winter in Rexburg, I hope I can survive! Students and Proffesors constantly share horror stories of dangerously low temperatures and bitting winds in the winter months, oh the anticipation!

Oh How I Wish

This has been such a hectic semester, filled with everything imaginable. I am looking forward to some relaxation and solitude (for a day or so). Thankfully I have been blessed with roommates that are easy to get along with, but there nothing like having a little alone time! There are only five weeks until the end of the semester! I can hardly believe it. There are only four weeks of class and less for me. I have been accepted to go with the school on an internship expedition. I will be missing three days of classes to fly to Phoenix and interview with many agencies and companies for public relation positions. With everything rapidly approaching and final projects piling, this is turning into crunch time! Oh how I am looking forward to Christmas break and relaxing!

Change will come

The word Change seems to be ringing in the hearts of many Americans. This change that so many seek may not be such a positive thing, Obama may have won support from 63 million Americans but he must now win the confidence of the remaining 56 million Americans.
It will take the innovative collaboration of all political officials to tackle the many challenges our country faces. There are many differences to overcome among parties, in Sen. McCain's concession speech he said, "These are difficult times for our country and I pledge to [Obama] tonight to do all in my power to help lead us through the many challenges we face," This is the attitude all Americans need to carry. It is a marvelous thing to see so many involved in their civic responsibility to vote, however there is still more to do. “This victory alone is not the change we seek,” said President elect Obama, calling [Americans] for a new spirit of sacrifice and a new spirit of service.
We must all remain involved in politics, this is not the end, merely the beginning of a term where every American should continue to keep officials accountable for their actions. It is a government of the people, the election proves this. Stay involved, informed and pray for their ability to lead this nation through the hard times ahead.

Scared Senseless

Halloween this year was not filled with the usually dressing up and festive parties, I was in the Testing Center well into the early evening and walking home was entertaining. I passed goblins, many large M&M candies, Disney Princesses and other unrecognizable characters, it was so fun. In a moment of insanity my roommates and I decided we wanted to watch a scary movie, I am so sorry for ever agreeing to it!

We settled on a classic Spielberg, Poltergeist. A little on edge and engrossed in the movie a knock at the door about stopped our hearts and shattered our windows form the piercing scream that erupted from five girls. It was fun to get scared an scream and indulge in a much needed sugar comma. Happy Halloween! I am sad I don't have any cute costume pictures to post, hopefully next year!
